Open forums serve as bridge between police and people: RPO

Gujar khan  -  Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region, Babar Sarfraz Alpa, conducted a series of public forums, field visits, and meetings with police officials and community stakeholders across District Jhelum and District Rawalpindi, aimed at enhancing public service delivery, ensuring accountability, and reinforcing community-police relations.

During his visit to Police Station Sohawa in Jhelum, the RPO, accompanied by District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum Tariq Aziz Sindhu, presided over an open court where a large number of citizens presented their grievances. Alpa listened to the complainants attentively and issued on-the-spot directives to address their concerns. He emphasized that such open courts are a critical channel for resolving issues at the grassroots level.

“Resolving public issues on priority is our mission,” said the RPO. “These open forums serve as a bridge between the police and the people, ensuring that grievances are heard and addressed transparently.” In a separate engagement, RPO Alpa held meetings with the District Peace Committee and office bearers of the local traders’ associations.  The discussions centered around maintaining law and order, promoting religious harmony, and strengthening cooperation among communities, scholars, and law enforcement. Religious leaders acknowledged the role of police in promoting peace and pledged their continued support.

The RPO along with DPO Tariq Aziz Sindhu also paid visits to the families of martyred Constables Muhammad Rasheed and Zeeshan Ali at Sohawa and Mangla Cantt, respectively.  The officers presented gifts, inquired after their wellbeing, and issued directions for resolving any issues faced by the bereaved families.

“Our martyrs are our pride, and their families are our responsibility,” Alpa said. “The doors of our offices are always open to them.”

RPO Alpa also visited Dina Police Station and assessed the facilities including the front desk, lock-up cells, records room, and mess hall. He stressed the importance of professionalism, cleanliness, and courteous behavior toward visitors, adding that FIR registration must be ensured within the timelines set by the Inspector General of Punjab Police.

As part of ongoing oversight measures, the RPO also conducted visits to four police stations in Rawalpindi District — Gujar Khan, Mandra, Rawat, and Morgah — where he reviewed infrastructure, record-keeping, detainee facilities, and general station management. In Gujar Khan circle, SDPO Gujar Khan, ASP Syed Daniyal Hassan briefed the RPO about ongoing crackdown against criminal elements in the tehsil.

“Transparency and speed in investigation processes are vital to securing justice and public trust,” Alpa noted during the inspections.
