Rashid Malik lifts ITF Masters crown in Oxford

LAHORE  -  Pakistan’s most accomplished ITF Senior tennis player, Rashid Malik, delivered another stellar performance on the international stage by capturing the ITF Masters title in Oxford, United Kingdom. The seasoned star overcame top-seeded British player Graeme Adams in straight sets to secure the coveted crown.

Malik, a former Davis Cupper and recipient of the prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, opened the final with confidence and control, taking the first set 6-2 against the high-ranked British player. Despite facing fierce resistance and challenging weather conditions in the second set, Malik maintained his composure and grit to clinch the set 7-5, sealing a straight-sets victory and yet another international accolade for Pakistan.

“It was a tough second set,” Malik said while talking to The Nation. “The weather was absolutely terrible and extremely windy, and my opponent used the conditions to his full advantage. But I kept my focus, played with patience, and thankfully came through.”

This latest title further cements Rashid Malik’s legacy as Pakistan’s leading figure in ITF senior tennis. He has long been a consistent ambassador of Pakistani tennis at the international level, representing the nation with pride in numerous ITF Seniors events across the world.

Reflecting on his future plans, Malik said: “Now that the tournament is over, I will take a short break from the ITF Masters circuit and enjoy watching Wimbledon matches. It’s always a treat to observe the best in the world perform on grass courts.”
