Deputy PM’s appointment challenged in LHC

The appointment of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as deputy prime minister of Pakistan was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC). The petitioner, Advocate Tariq Aziz, filed a writ in the LHC. Aziz was of the view that appointment of Elahi as a deputy prime minister of the country was a step to reward a coalition ally and it had not provision in the constitution. He said that this special appointment was a clear violation to the article 91 of the constitution. Moreover he pleaded that “this appointment was ill-intended and should be declared void.”
