Rawalpindi - Dhamial police here on Friday registered a murder case against a man, who allegedly tortured his wife to death and tried to bury her in their native village in Kot Addu.
The alleged murder of Samina Bibi, 36, surfaced on the morning of August 14 when her dead body reached Chak No. TDA/516 Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, Kot Addu. Her father after learning about marks of torture on the dead body, informed the are police that led to arrest of Amir and post-mortem of the body.
Amir Abbas, resident of Malik Colony Girja Road, Rawalpindi, brought Samina to District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) on August 10 with multiple injuries mainly in her head. According to the information gleaned from DHQ showed that Samina died at 2pm on August 13, mainly due to severe head injuries. Amir, initially, told the hospital staff that his wife fell from stairs. Amir then took the dead body to his native village in Kot Addu for burial without informing Samina’s father who lives in Kot Addu. As per the details mentioned in the FIR lodged with Dhamial police by Ghulam Akhtar, father of Samina, he learnt about the death of his daughter after an announcement was made at 6am about burial of hid daughter at 8am in the area graveyard on August 14.
The complaining father told the police that Samina contracted marriage with Amir some 19 years ago without the consent of her parents. Therefore, he and his family had very little contact with Samina. He said that the couple had three children together namely: Muhammad Zaman, 17, Shan Haider, 15, and Mariam Rani, 12. Ghulam Akhtar further told the police that he got suspicious and reached the house of Amir along with his brothers. The body reached there at about 7:30am and started preparations for giving a bath to the dead body. The complainant said that his sister Kalsoom Bibi examined the body and found marks of severe torture on the body. He said that he sent his sister-in-law Safia Bibi to reconfirm the torture marks. She also confirmed the multiple marks of torture on the body.
Ghulam Akthar told Dhamila police that he called 15 and area police reached the house. He said that Amir Abbas and his children threatened him with dire consequences for informing the area police. The Kot Addu police have arrested Amir and one of his son Zaman.
