Gujar khan - The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has formally taken charge of water supply and sewerage services in Jhelum district, aiming to resolve longstanding issues in these sectors.
The development follows an agreement between the Municipal Committee and WASA, signed during a special ceremony at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Municipal Committee Administrator Saba Sehar and WASA Managing Director.
Following the signing, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Jhelum, Muhammad Maisam Abbas, where WASA officials briefed the DC on their workforce capabilities and operational plan for the district.
While talking to The Nation, Deputy Commissioner Abbas said that the pilot project would be initially launched in Jhelum tehsil and would be gradually expanded to other tehsils of the district.
He maintained that the Punjab government is committed to addressing citizens’ problems and providing better municipal services.
He added that with WASA’s professional management, residents will benefit from a cleaner and healthier environment.
