‘Tight-lipped’ police still clueless in Faheem Sardar murder case

ISLAMABAD  -  The police are still clueless about the circumstances leading to the death of corporate executive, author and trainer, Faheem Sardar who was found brutally murdered at sector G-6/4 residence here in early hours on Wednesday.

Aabpara police registered a First Information Report (FIR) in this regard in a late-night development, however, contents of the report are still unknown. When approached, the police declined to share anything on what they called a high-profile case. The police team including a Homicide Unit of Islamabad police spent the whole of the day on Thursday inside House 64 at Begum Sarfraz Iqbal Road in sector G-6/4 to collect evidence, suggesting they, until the end of the day, had nothing substantial to move beyond the crime scene. The sources said that there was no major breakthrough by Thursday and the police are still clueless about motive and circumstances leading to the crime.

The police are striving hard to reach the culprit(s). With the police still lacking a lead to crack the murder case, they are also looking into the possibility of a personal dispute, revenge, or a property-related motive. The investigators are also analysing his call data records with senior police officers directly monitoring the whole process.

The sources told this scribe that it was the wife of the victim who first came to know about the tragic incident. She had been at the house of her parents in sector I-8 for some days. In the early hours on Wednesday, she returned to her G-6 home along with the driver just to know that her husband had been murdered, sources told this scribe. Faheem Sardar’s father-in-law, Shamim Ahmad Khan, had retired as Secretary, Ministry of Commerce. After joining the Civil Service of Pakistan, Shamim Ahmad Khan served in senior positions in the Government, particularly in the Ministry of Finance. For ten years, he worked in Corporate Law Authority, regulatory body for the corporate sector as a Member and later as Chairman. He restructured it as Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and served as its first Chairman. The dead body is still at the mortuary and the coffin is likely to be taken out from the I-8 residence today (Friday).

Faheem Sardar recently served as Senior Policy Specialist SPPC NSD, focusing on economics, among other aspects. He was the Managing Director of TANGENT which is an economics think tank and corporate advisory. Previously, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Askari Securities Ltd in Pakistan, for 9 years, which is a leading brokerage and investment house in Pakistan. He had extensive experience in policy, planning, envisioning, implementation, change, restructuring, stabilizing, growth, asymmetry and in dealing with problems.

Sardar was also on the faculty of the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance as a trainer, and is involved in Director’s training in Corporate Governance & Leadership Skills. He also authored books and articles, with others in progress. His released books are titled ‘Mind Conquest’ (which is about managing and succeeding in life, especially work), ‘CEO at 34‘ (which is about managing and succeeding in life, especially work) and ‘The New Finance Construct’ (which is about the genetic problems in economics, finance and banking, and a much-needed new construct).
