2 dead, others injured in New Orleans shootings

New Orleans police are investigating two early morning fatal shootings, one in the French Quarter that also injured seven and the other on the edge of the historic district. The first shooting took place at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on Bourbon Street when gunfire left one person dead and seven others wounded. Police spokesman officer Garry Flot says preliminary information shows two people opened fire into a crowd. Flot says the second shooting occurred about an hour later on Canal Street on the edge of the Quarter. One person was killed and three others were wounded in that shooting.
