PHC orders lifting of ban on Tiktok

PESHAWAR - Peshawar High Court (PHC) has lifted the ban on the famous digital App, Tiktok, but declared that no immoral content would be allowed on it. The bench headed by PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan asked the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority director general to unblock the App but ensure that there is no immoral content on it and also to permanently block the accounts of those users who upload objectionable material.  The PTA director general informed the court that the Authority had hired a focal person to monitor what is being uploaded on TikTok.  On March 11, the court had banned the App when two female lawyers appealed to the bench against the objectionable content on the App.  Even before that, the App had been blocked by PTA in October 2020 too. However, the PTA later unblocked it upon assurance of the company to censor the immoral content.
