Wheat smuggling from Sindh to be discouraged, says minister

KARACHI : Sindh Food Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the Sindh Food Department has made strict arrangements to control the wheat smuggling from Sindh to other provinces.He said the notice has been taken on complaints about wheat smuggling from Sindh-Balochistan Border, particularly, from Hub. The Minister said this while addressing a meeting of the Food Department at his office here, said a statement on Monday. He directed Additional Chief Secretary, Naseer Jamali to appoint honest and dedicated officials in the important districts so as to timely redress the complaints.
During the meeting, he also made telephonic contact to some of the officials and called upon them to control the wheat leakage through all possible means.
He also directed the officials concerned to pay surprise visit themselves to the check posts of the wheat godowns and take strict disciplinary action against the negligent officials, on the spot.
The Minister also directed that the implementation of the Section-144 be strictly enforced to stop the smuggling of wheat to other provinces.
