ISLAMABAD - Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, has reiterated Pakistan's concerns over cross-border attacks from Afghanistan and demanded action against terrorists using its soil against Pakistan.
Talking to journalists after addressing a seminar on 'Building China Pakistan Community of Shared Destiny in the New Era' on Tuesday, he also demanded arrest and repatriation of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Chief Maulvi Fazullah from Afghanistan.
He was of the view that the terrorist attacks from Afghan soil is a serious issue and Pakistan is in touch with the Afghan authorities for better management of the border.
He said installation of biometric verification system on border crossing points could ensure better management of the border.
He stated in categorical terms that Pakistan would fully protect its border and retaliate to any fire from across the border. He said the terrorists are common enemies of Pakistan and Afghanistan and both the countries should fully cooperate in tackling them.
Earlier, addressing a seminar, Sartaj said that friendship with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy.
He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a landmark project, which will connect China with Karachi and Gwadar.
He said both the countries are discussing a number of mega projects under the rubric of Economic Corridor in several fields like energy, infrastructure and connectivity, which would revitalize Pakistan's economy.    
Referring to the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the war against terrorism, he said the operation launched in North Waziristan against terrorists is proceeding successfully. Large parts of the area have been cleared of the militants and their infrastructure destroyed.  
Addressing the seminar, Chinese ambassador in Pakistan Sun Weidong spoke at length on how China has developed itself as well as its relations with Pakistan. On Pakistan China relations, he started with a question what does a peaceful, developing and increasingly powerful China mean to Pakistan?
He said he thinks it means more opportunities for development, strong mutual support and expanding common interests. Pakistan is bound to benefit from China's development.
As a close and friendly neighbour, he said Beijing expects a Pakistan that lives up to its full potential, a Pakistan that is stable, strong and prosperous, a Pakistan realizing its "Asian Tiger Dream", the Chinese government and people will firmly stand by Pakistan, he added.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor goes well with substantive results. Currently, we are promoting construction and operation of Gwadar Port, making breakthroughs in Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project and starting to construct RuYi-Masood Textile Industrial Park in Faisalabad, and lots of power plants like Thermal Power Plant in Port Qasim and Solar Power in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur.
These have made significant contributions to the enhancement of local economies and people's livelihood. Chinese government will continue to encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Pakistan, support Pakistan's economic and promote social development.
"We should advocate common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security in Asia, strengthen security cooperation, and jointly fight against terrorism forces like the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement" for peace and stability", the Chinese ambassador said.
After Islamabad and Karachi, the third Confucius Institute is being built in Faisalabad. Another 117 students with Chinese government scholarships have gone to China as exchange students.
"We should further expand friendly exchanges, inherit and carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries", he stressed.
China and Pakistan play important roles in maintaining peace and justice in the region and the world, he said.
"We work together to promote Afghanistan reconciliation process, and achieve peace, stability and development at an early date", he said adding that China supports Pakistan to play a greater constructive role in regional and international affairs.
