ISLAMABAD - Acupuncture and Acupressure therapies are best forms of treatment in traditional Chinese medicines that help adjust and alter the body's energy flow into healthier patterns.
These words were expressed by experts on Acupuncture and Acupressure Therapies Dr Rizwan Kothari & Dr Zikr Kothari in an interview with PTV Tuesday.
These therapies involve the use of sharp, thin needles that are inserted in the body at very specific points and thus cure a variety of illnesses and health conditions, they added.
Acupuncture as an effective treatment for over forty medical problems, including allergies, respiratory conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, gynecological problems, nervous conditions, and disorders of the eyes, nose and throat, and childhood illnesses, among others.
It is an effective and low-cost treatment for headaches and chronic pain, associated with problems like back injuries and arthritis.
Acupressure is the form of massage using acupuncture points. Auricular acupuncture - Acupuncture using only points found on the ears; Tonification - Acupuncture technique for strengthening the body.
"Acupuncture needles are always sterilized and acupuncture is a very safe procedure. The depth of insertion of needles varies, depending on which chi channels are being treated. Some points barely go beyond superficial layers of skin, while some acupuncture points require a depth of 1-3 in (2.5-7.5 cm) of needle", they said.
Replying to a question they said , Acupuncture is generally a very safe procedure.
Acupuntncture also known as "Sujoke" which is basically a Korean word meaning acu puncture and acu pressure relating to problems of  7 different diseases of the body such as hand , leg, heart ,mind , back  by putting pressure on different parts of body.
Replying to another question they said in this treatment "We are supposed to put black spots on the thumb or colour it black and keep it for whole night which can be cleaned in the morning adding it has to be repeated again and again till it will cure the spots on the face and freckles as well and shine will come on the face.
For paralysis, initially acupuncture helps cure but if it will prolong than treatment success will be half, he added.
For insomnia, on the upper side of the left hand they put the pink colour points on different areas and continue it till six days, and it will cure insomnia.
