SA pays glowing tributes to Begum Nusrat Bhutto

KARACHI - Sindh Assembly on Tuesday felicitated Begum Nusrat Bhutto on her 80th birthday and eulogised the sacrifices she has rendered for the cause of democracy in the country. The House unanimously adopted a resolution for this purpose, jointly moved by Senior Minister Pir Mazhar ul Haq, Irrigation Minister Murad Ali Shah, Information Minister Shazia Marri, Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto and PPP member assembly Humera Alwani before it was prorogued. The resolution read, "This assembly extends heartiest felicitations to Mohtarma Nusrat Bhutto, the PPP chairperson, on her birthday and on this occasion salutes her undaunted stand and unceasing struggle against tyranny, pays homage to her leadership during times of acute crises, acknowledges with sadness the innumerable sacrifices she has made and losses she has incurred in the struggle for democratic rule in Pakistan". Speaking on the occasion, Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, paid rich tributes to ailing Begum Nusrat Bhutto and said that he had witnessed valiant struggle of Begum Bhutto for the cause of democracy and supremacy of constitution after the martyrdom of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He said "She is like a mother to us and we pray for her early recovery as she is a beacon light for PPP workers". Information Minister Shazia Marri said that Begum Nusrat Bhutto is a loving personality who successfully performed her duty as a daughter, wife and a mother. The minister also prayed for her early recovery from illness. MQM Parliamentary leader Syed Sardar Ahmed congratulated ailing Begum Nusrat Bhutto on her birthday and said that she had bore severe hardships after the martyrdom of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and prayed for her recovery. Minister for Katchi Abadis Rafique Engineer, Minister for Labour Ameer Nawab, Minister for Jails Haji Muzaffar Shujrah, Minister Abid Jatoi, Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, PPP members of Sindh Aseembly Anwar Mehar, Shamim Ara Panhwar also congratulated Begum Nusrat Bhutto on her birthday. They praised her undaunted struggle during the dictatorial regime of Ziaul Haq and remained a flag bearer of democracy despite heavy odds. They said that there was no example of kind of sacrifices in the subcontinent that Begum Nusrat Bhutto had rendered and she suffered great trauma of witnessing hanging of her husband Z.A Bhutto, martyrdoms of her two sons and brave daughter Benazir Bhutto. The House had started its proceedings under the chair of Acting Speaker Ms. Shehla Raza.
