Christmas celebrations at YMCA


LAHORE – The annual Christmas function held at the YMCA the other day was attended by a large number of Christian families, leaders of different communities and institution heads.
Special stalls offering free bangles, makeup and face paint had been set up on the occasion with the whole place tastefully decorated according to the Christmas tradition. A snow-white Christmas tree adorned with gifts was an attraction of the venue. The function began with the recitaton of Bible and prayers that were led by Rev Emmanuel Khokhar. The sermon was presented by Rev Shahid Miraj followed by carol singing by Anand Menzies.  The cake cutting was performed amid a thunder of claps with the Japan YMCA delegation doing the honours along with pop singer Jawad Ahmed, director Syed Noor and Mohsin Shaukat. This was followed by the arrival of Santa Claus who gave away presents to the guests and children. Voilinist Ghulam Ali Lahooti began the musical show with his magical performance, followed by a mesmerising instrumental show by guitarist Sajjad Taffu. The man who stole the show was legendary singer Shaukat Ali, who presented his golden hits.  Upcoming singer Samina Malik wowed the audience by singing memorable songs of Madam Noor Jehan. The grand finale was with another legend A Nayyar. He sang his popular songs bringing to mind the 80s and 90s when he ruled the roost in the music industry.
