Tribesmen agree to resolve mine ownership issue peacefully

BAJAUR AGENCY (Anwarullah Khan) - The elders of Malakand Agency and Barang tribe of Bajaur Agency on Wednesday decided to resolve longstanding dispute about the ownership of a chromite mine situated at the border area of both agencies through peaceful means. The elders of both agencies decided this at a joint jirga at Khar. Dozens of tribal elders from both agencies, Political Agent Bajaur Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Malakand Jamil Khan and others were present on the occasion.
The elders of both sides agreed to constitute a 10-member committee to find out a peaceful and durable solution of the conflict.
Political Agent Abdul Jabbar Shah addressing on the occasion said that resolving all disputes between the two neighbouring tribes was the need of the hour because it was not only disturbing law and order situation in the region but was also affecting the relations between both agencies.
He asked the elders of both tribes to play their due role in maintaining peace.
DCO Malakand Agency Jamil Ahmed and senior elders of Barang tribe and Malakand Agency also spook on the occasion.
 They vowed to work for the larger interest of the region. They said that no one would be allowed to violate the jirga decision.
