Cop killed, SHO, 3 others hurt

PESHAWAR - A Policeman was killed and four others including station house officer Banamari Police station were seriously injured when unknown armed persons opened firing on them at Pahari Pora area on Wednesday.
Police sources said that the SHO was coming from his home for duty along with his driver and gunmen when armed persons opened firing on them near Ajab Khan Town on Ring Road. Police also resorted to firing and claimed that one of the attackers sustained bullet injuries but he escaped the scene with the help of his other accomplice who was riding a bike.
Soon after the incident police rushed towards the site and shifted the injured persons to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar where they were identified as SHO Abdul Hameed son of M Alam, resident of Daki Mirabad, while two other police persons were identified as Zahid son of Gul Khan and Constable Siraj son of Ghulam Nabi.
Meanwhile, in separate incident a policeman was killed and another got injured when two armed persons triggered firing on them in University Town area on Wednesday. Police said that Mohammad Nisar and Naveed Akbar were on routine patrolling when armed persons targeted them with AK-47 riffle. The attackers after committing the crime left their unregistered 125 motorbike and made their escape good from the scene.
