Ayla Malik may not contest by-election

RAWALPINDI - The two-member Election Tribunal of Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench on Saturday termed Ayla Malik ineligible to contest by polls for having fake intermediate degree.
Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh and Justice Ayesha A Malik barred the Mianwali-based PTI leader from contesting by-elections as she had submitted her fake degree before Election Commission of Pakistan. Ayla Malik was among the most favourites to be named as the PTI candidate for NA-71 by-polls, the seat evacuated by party chairman Imran Khan. The ET of LHC Rawalpindi Bench came into action when a PML-N candidate Obaidullah Shadikhail had filed a complaint that his opposite candidate owned a fake degree.
During the hearing, a representative of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi informed the bench there is no record of the degree submitted by Ayla Malik who had claimed to have passed examination in 1989.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi, had declared her intermediate certificate ‘bogus’ on July 20 that carries the roll number of a male candidate named Imdad Hussain, who too had failed.
The ET, after completion of arguments, reserved its decision till Monday (tomorrow).
