Not a single penny given to NWFP govt

PESHAWAR (Agencies) - NWFP Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that not a single penny has been given by the centre to the provincial government in war against militants. Talking to journalists here on Monday, Iftikhar said the provincial government remains committed to promulgating the Nizam-e-Adl Regulation (NAR-2009) in Malakand division, however strict action will be taken if the governments writ is challenged. Mian Iftikhar said the NWFP government earnestly promulgated the NAR-2009 and Darul Qaza was established to restore peace and stability in Malakand division, but any violation of the agreement by militants will no longer be tolerated. The NWFP Information Minister asked the Taliban to lay down arms and stand by the government in its peace initiatives. Meanwhile, NWFP Law Minister Barrister Arshad Abdullah has said the TNSM chief Maulana Sufi Mohammad is not authorised to appoint Qazis in Malakand division and only the provincial governments can do it. Talking to a private TV channel on Monday, Barrister Arshad said that under the Nizam-e-Adl Regulation (NAR-2009), only the NWFP government has the privilege to appoint Qazis. The Minister said the government would fulfil its constitutional responsibilities and soon an office of Darul Qaza would be established in Malakand. He said after the establishment of Darul Qaza, an additional and a deputy advocate-general would be appointed in the division. Meanwhile, the Government of NWFP has notified the establishment of Darul Qaza for Malakand Division. It was officially notified here on Monday. The notification No PSG-1 (2)/2009 which carries the signature of Governor NWFP Owais Ahmad Ghani says, In order to practically enforce Sharia Nizam-i-Adl Regulation 2009 and to activate the court of Darul Qaza and in pursuant to notification of Peshawar High Court No 4046-75 dated May 2, 2009 Justice Ghulam Mohy-ud-din Malik and Justice Zia-ud-din Khattak shall be Qazis of Darul Qaza for the purpose of Sharia Nizam-i-Adl Regulation 2009.
