Obama supports Pak efforts for peace

Washington\\United Nations: The United States and the United Nations have strong condemned the outrageous and abhorrent attack in Bajaur Agency in which a female suicide bomber killed at least 45 people queuing to receive food aid. I strongly condemn the outrageous terrorist attack in Khar, Pakistan. Killing innocent civilians outside a World Food Programme distribution point is an affront to the people of Pakistan, and to all humanity, Obama said in a statement released by the White House. The United States stands with the people of Pakistan in this difficult time, and will strongly support Pakistans efforts to ensure greater peace, security and justice for its people, Obama added. President Obama is in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he is spending his Christmas vacations with his family. The (UN) Secretary-General was appalled to learn about a terrorist attack that took place on the morning of 25 December outside a World Food Programme (WFP) food distribution centre in the town of Khar ..., his spokesman said in a statement released at UN Headquarters in New York. He unequivocally condemns this abhorrent act of terrorism aimed at innocent people. The Secretary-General conveys his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Pakistan, the statement added. People displaced by fighting had been getting food at a distribution centre. Saturdays bombing was the latest in a string of attacks in Pakistans northwest. Agencies add: Afghan President Hamid Karzai Sunday urged Islamabad to spare no effort in eliminating those responsible for a suicide attack on a World Food Programme project in Pakistan that killed 43 people. Karzai also stressed the need for the two countries to work together on boosting efforts against violent extremism in the aftermath of Saturdays attack in the lawless Bajaur tribal district. I strongly condemn this attack and I ask the Pakistani government to spare no efforts in eliminating these terrorists, Karzai said in a statement released by his spokesmans office. The Bajaur Agency terrorist attack once again reveals the true face of those who have no other motive but shedding blood and causing terror. The president also emphasised strengthening joint efforts (with Pakistan) in the war against terrorism, the statement added.
