LAHORE – The Punjab Chess Association (PCA) is going to organise Punjab Chess Championship 2013 from September 12 to 15 here at a local hotel. PCA president Dr Mirza Naeem told this scribe on Wednesday that around 80 players from more than 20 districts of the province were expected to take part in the event. “Top 10 players will qualify for the 29th National Chess Championship 2013 which is expected to be held on December 5 here in the city. The championship will be played on Swiss league format with nine rounds. Time control for all rounds will be 60 minutes each to end the game. Apart from the district quota, open entries shall also be accepted even on September 12 at the venue of the championship between 11am to 12:30pm. The first round will start at 2pm on September 12,” he concluded. –Staff Reporter
