Tampered BISP forms on sale

ISLAMABAD - Despite the fact that government programme to support poor masses through forms of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has been closed since April last year, some so-called activists of ruling party are still fleecing the innocent people by selling them with filled and tampered forms against Rs 300 per form. Such kind of incidents came to surface when Mohallah vigilance committee of Frash Town, Islamabad informed the Shahzad Town Police Station that some people in the name of BISP forms were fleecing the poor people, as they were distributing filled and tampered forms against Rs 300 per form. On this, police party reached there and caught red handed three people who identified themselves as Pakistan Peoples Party workers. Police also recovered more than 200 filled forms from the accused. As the BISP scheme through forms had been closed since last year, it is highly questionable that how these people had managed to get filled forms of BISP, a senior police officer said. The accused were identified as Banaris Khan, Dashit Khan, and Riasat Khan. More than 200 filled forms, a number of fluid bottles and looted money have been recovered from them. It was also learnt at the time of arrest that Banaris Khan identified himself as General Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party in National Assembly constituency NA-22 Batagram and he also presented PPPP card to police at the time of arrest. Talking to TheNation, a senior police officer said, One accused is claiming that he is PPPP Batagram chapter General Secretary adding that it is yet to be ascertained whether these people are really workers of PPPP or not. A case has been registered against the accused and police on Monday produced them before the Magistrate and got two days physical remands of them. Despite frequent attempts by this correspondent, Chairperson of BISP Farzana Raja, could not be approached for her comments. However, her spokesman informed that BISP was not concerned authority to receive filled forms, so there was no chance that any officials of BISP might be involved in providing filled forms to cheaters.
