In the quest to evolve technologically, NADRA introduced its Pak-ID mobile application through which the citizens of Pakistan can enter their biometric verification. The utility of this app will be applied to other government departments as well, making routine processes much more convenient as a result. The only task remaining is to spread awareness about the innovative development so that the masses make use of this facility.

In recent years, NADRA has been taking steps to incorporate more technology that streamlines basic operations. For instance, the procedure for CNIC verification and renewal can be completed through an SMS alone when previously, hour-long visits to nearby centres were needed. It even launched its online complaint system through which the public can book an e-ticket and launch an official complaint. The feedback provided through this has particularly helped the organisation improve its performance through catering to the needs of the people. The Pak-ID app is the newest addition to the digital facilities offered.

Biometric verification was always a hassle that required a tiresome process of filling out countless forms, making various paper submissions and going through multiple rounds of feeding biometric information into the system. Through the Pak-ID app, people will be able to do all this, plus record their fingerprints, facial recognition and share documents needed, at their convenience and through their mobile phones. Considering that a significant portion of the population uses smartphones, this could be a revolutionary improvement to a system that is accessible to the majority of the population. Furthermore, this would relieve some of the pressure off of centres as the need for in-person visits will be significantly reduced.

The only remaining challenge is the fact that the masses are not conscious of this development. NADRA must reach out to the public, through SMS or by mainstreaming technology via news channels, so that the efficient platform is actively used. It must also ensure that it runs smoothly, without any glitches, lags or interruptions so that the efficacy of the avenue can be fully utilised.
