Losing our sympathy

This refers to Zardari's meeting Nawaz Sharif in Lahore. What is the point of Mr Zardari is trying to drive at by keeping up with these meetings while he does not want to restore judges for reasons only known to him or Mr. Rehman Malik? Does he intend to prove that Mr Nawaz Sharif is caput? Who is stopping PPP government from lowering prices of daily essentials and keep the ever-rising utility charges in check? Reminding us time and again about his unfortunate days in prison actually makes him lose our sympathy now. Let him sue Mr Farooq Leghari who incarcerated him for his implication in the Murtaza Bhutto murder case. The nation did him no wrong. He has, however, wronged us plenty in these last few days by nearly forcing us to starve. Uncontrolled sky rocketing prices and exploitation by the richest, that is what he has brought for us. Why did he tamely concede to the stockbrokers? In doing that, he has only earned further decline of the market due to which small investors are losing billions. The big sharks will now rule the roost and the wheel will go on crushing the poor in every walk of life. The only beneficiaries of this system are the corrupt. -SHAHID, London, UK, via e-mail, June 19.
