PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif and President Shahbaz Sharif have decided to nominate Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan as Opposition leader in the National Assembly. The PML-N lawmakers would present a formal request in this regard to Speaker Fehmida Mirza on Monday. PML-N will sit on opposition benches in the National Assembly and Senate. Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said keeping in view the record of last six months, his party had not much expectation from President-elect Asif Ali Zardari, but added PML-N conceded his win as election was held in democratic manner. He offered best wishes for newly elected President Zardari also. "Parliament's sovereignty according to 1973 constitution and charter of democracy (CoD) could change the scenario completely for Zardari," he noted. He further said repeal of 17th amendment and former president's negative steps, judiciary's independence and complete restoration would be beneficial for the new president.
