PM to start 3-day Russia visit from Feb 23

ISLAMABAD - Dates for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s official visit to Russia have been finalised as he will Kremlin from February 23 to 25.


Official and diplomatic sources confided to the Nation yesterday that the prime minister would arrive in the Russian capital Moscow on 23rd February on a three-day official visit.


Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, NSA Dr Moeed Yousaf and other senior officials would accompany the prime minister during the visit.


He would be the first prime Minister of Pakistan who would be visiting Russia on a state visit after a gap of 23 years as the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had visited Moscow in April 1999.


Khan has been invited by the Russian President to visit Moscow. During the visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan would meet Russian President Putin.


A diplomatic source told The Nation that Prime Minister Imran Khan would also apprise the Russian President about the Pak-India relations and continued Indian military buildup which is targeted against Pakistan and threat to peace and security of South Asia.


The PM would also apprise the Russian leadership about the latest situation in IIOJK.


The source said Prime Minister Imran Khan would personally thank the Russian President for his remarks against Islamophobia.


Imran Khan to discuss vital issues with Russian President Putin


Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Russian President would discuss bilateral relations, regional situation and international issues of mutual concern. Khan would also meet top business and corporate leaders of Russia who have their global business presence.
