Police launch campaign against arms, aerial firing

Peshawar - Capital City Police have launched a campaign against display of weapon in public and aerial firing as well as the uploading videos of arms on social media.

Speaking to journalists, SSP Operations Haroon Rasheed said that the officers of all police stations have been directed to lodge cases against people who commit aerial firing, which often leads to deaths and injuries to people in the shape of stray bullets.

He said that aerial firing not only caused loss of lives but it spread scare among people and is particularly harmful to some patients like those suffering heart ailments.

Haroon Rasheed said that the cops have been directed not to spare anyone causing terror among people through the display of weapons. “Banners are to be displayed at police posts as well as mobile vans to raise awareness among people about the ills of aerial firing.

Also, the officer said that all divisional SPs have been directed to submit a report to him on aerial firing cases on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, the police on Monday also arrested one Umar, a resident of Landi Arbab locality, for impersonating policemen and uploading videos of weapons on social media while wearing the police uniforms.
