11 suspects nabbed with drugs

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested 11 persons from various areas in the city during last 24 hours and recovered a cache of narcotics, wine and weapons from them. According to police, a massive crackdown against the drug-peddlers and other criminals was launched following the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer.

During the crackdown, Kohsar police arrested two bootleggers namely Aamir and Hashim and recovered 20 bottles of wine and 15 liters of liquor from their possession. Industrial-Area police arrested two accused namely Waseem and Sheraz and recovered 2.45kg of hashish from them.

Likewise, Secretariat police arrested Rameez and recovered 3.85kg of hashish from him. Sihala police arrested three accused namely Haroon Mehmood, Junaid and Ziaur Rehman and recovered three 30-bore pistols and ammunition from their possession.

Koral police arrested accused Faizan involved in LPG decanting.  Shahzad Town police arrested two accused including Mir Rehman and Fazal Hamed involved in theft. Cases were registered against them.

The SSP appealed parents not to give too much freedom to their children lest they end up in an irreversible situation. He said: “Parents should fulfill their responsibility and avoid giving a huge amount of pocket money to their children, for it can get them involved in such sort of activity.” He added: “Once a child gets involved in drug related activities, his future is spoiled.”
