Anti-car lifting cell impounds 42 vehicles

ISLAMABAD - Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) has impounded 42 suspected vehicles during the month of December. A spokesman for police said that out of 42 vehicles, eight cars were found to be stolen while 34 cars were found tempered. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the ownership of these vehicle, he added. He said that Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam has assigned the task to SP (Investigation) Saqib Sultan Al-Mehmud for nabbing auto thieves. SP constituted special team under his own supervision. The team succeeded to trace 42 suspected vehicles only during December out of which eight were stolen from various areas. The cars impounded by the police bear the registration numbers as follows: Karachi Z-5992, LEJ-6234, MRB-8577, LWL-4893, LRA-8087. LRA-797, IDM-5432, LZA-2319, MNQ-1925, LXJ-0169, CR 2654, Peshawar B-3117, BAA-077. MHb-295, (truck) LRO-2311, BA-4175, LWB-5048, CR-3266, LXH-9467, B-4609, FB-2385, LWC-0954, LZW-5852, Karachi-2839, LEF-4663, B-3621, AAQ-198, LRA-567, IDn-6543, JB-983, LWR-4662, LZl-3091, MNQ-818, B-8718, LEB-004, LOV-3012, LOZ-9036, RIV-4198, LXZ-748, ALV-910, AAF-323, LZO-8911. The spokesman said the police team has also contacted to Rescue 15 for its report regarding chassis number, engine number and actual place of registration. It was also revealed after checking through concerned Excise and Taxation Offices that most of the particulars and documents of these vehicles are bogus. The IGP has also directed to fully examine the particulars of these vehicles and hand them over to the actual owners. He has also directed ACLC staff to check suspicious vehicles and arrest the auto-thieves.
