LHC seeks detailed report on sugar prices before Nov 30

Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered the federal and provincial governments to present their detailed viewpoint over rise in sugar prices till November 30, a private TV reported on Monday. In its remarks, the court while hearing the petition filed by advocate Azhar Siddique, stated that the governments control on the prices of essential commodities across the globe but this practice is not followed in Pakistan. Deputy attorney general informed the court that sugar crisis has been overcome, adding that prices of commodity are stable in the open market. The court questioned TCP for not releasing available sugar stock one-and-a-half month earlier. LHC also directed Punjab government to notify the court over the action taken against hoarders and those involved in black marketing.
