Golain water scheme made functional

Golain Water Supply Scheme, completed at a cost of Rs325 million granted by the previous government, has been inaugurated at Danin.
Meanwhile, local people raised concerns over the issue that at present a number of people were still deprived of water connection while some pipelines were lying openly on the ground. They also raised the issue that the pipeline project would be run on test basis for three months. During the three-month period, the contractor will be responsible for any damage but after expiring of the test period, the system would be handed over to water and sanitation unit through PHE Department and there would be no responsibility of contractor for any damages or loss.
Some 29,000 people will take benefit from the facility. The pipeline of 10-inch diameter spreads on 26.5 kilometers areas. Public Health Engineering spokesman Zahir Shah said that some 9 water tanks had been constructed with the capacity of 5,000 to 30,000 gallons. Some 1 million gallons water will be carried through the pipeline per day. Addressing on the occasion, speakers praised the efforts for the project.
On the occasion, former AC Sardar Muhammad said that Singor, Shahmirandeh, Seenlasht and Balsch are deprived of water for the last 1 month while the people had been facing water shortage since 1995. He urged the PHE and WSU for immediate supplying of drinking water to these areas. XEN Public Health said that water of Golain scheme will be given to eastern part of Chitral while Angarghon water will be given to Singor areas. He said that the project have been designed for 20 years to supply water to town area.
Deputy Commissioner and MPA Saleem Khan asked the department concerned to work hard and make the mega project a success with great dedication and honest working. They said that no one should to be deprived of water in town area. At last chief guest inaugurated water supply scheme by unveiling plaque of the scheme. A large number of people attended the function.
