More funds required for drought-hit Tharparkar says UN

Islamabad- The United Nations says more funds are urgently required to tackle the nutrition crisis in the drought-affected Tharparkar region.

This has been stated in a statement by United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan, Timo Pakkala. He said there are reports of a rise in number of malnutrition, clinical admissions and child mortality in Tharparkar. Meanwhile, Coordinator to Sindh Chief Minister Taj Haider said over one hundred thousand wheat bags have been distributed in the drought-hit areas. In a statement, he said over fifty five thousand patients including children have also been provided medical treatment.
