Pakistan set to challenge China today

LAHORE - Goalkeeper Ahsan Ullah-led Pakistan will take on China in their second match of Asian Youth Games Football Tournament 2009 (Group-B) at glittering soccer field of Temasek Polytechnic (TP), located in the east of Singapore, on Monday, June 22 (5 PM kick off). Earlier in their first match, Pakistan lost to South Korea 0-2 last night at same venue. Asian powerhouse got their campaign off to a great start with a 9th minute strike from Choi Jaehua. Victory was sealed early in the second half. Kim Yonggyu was brought down in the penalty area by Pakistan's Aman Ullah. Kim picked himself up to convert the resulting spot kick and make it 2-0. Earlier, organisers announced a revised draw after Kuwait withdrew from the competition, citing school and examination commitments. Meanwhile, Philippines and Chinese Taipei Group-A clash scheduled to be played at Meridian Junior College on Saturday, has been postponed till further notice. A Philippines player has been confirmed to have been infected with Influenza A (H1N1). He developed symptoms in the afternoon of 19 June. Fever was detected during the routine temperature taking. He sought medical attention at the Games Village medical centre and was placed in an isolation room and throat swabs were taken. Laboratory results confirmed his infection and he was admitted to Communicable Disease Centre (CDC).
