LHC moved for early hearing of petition

PM’s foreign accounts

LAHORE - A writ petition on Saturday was filed in the Lahore High Court for early hearing of a petition filed several years back against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for allegedly shifting public money abroad.
Barrister Jafree said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had shifted millions of rupees in 1985 to Western countries, causing a great loss to the national exchequer. He said about 300,000 US dollars had been transferred abroad.
The petitioner said Nawaz Sharif had plundered the money, so he had lost credibility as well as eligibility to rule the country. He added the PM did not qualify for an NA seat under articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution after committing the plunder and was ineligible to hold any public office.
The petitioner sought the formation of a full-court bench for early hearing of the main petition so that justice could be delivered timely in the best interest of the nation and the country.
