Ex-assistant bank manager arrested

LAHORE - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab on Monday arrested Muhammad Amjad Minhas, ex-assistant manager HBL, Wassanpura, and Muhammad Ibrahim, for misappropriating Rs 2.7 million through misuse of authority and criminal breach of trust. The accused would be produced before the Accountability Court for physical remand on Tuesday (today) for further interrogation. According to case details, an investigation was authorised by NAB Punjab against the above-mentioned accused on a complaint filed by management of the bank. It was alleged the accused Muhammad Ibrahim in connivance with Muhammad Amjad Minhas, the ex-assistant manager HBL, Wassanpura branch, got a bogus chequebook issued of his business partner. The accused Muhammad Ibrahim withdrew Rs 2.702 million through 17 cheques with bogus signatures processed by Muhammad Amjad Minhas and caused loss to the bank. The accused have been arrested for the recovery of embezzled amount and collection of evidence to finalise the investigation for submission of reference to the accountability court.
