4 matches decided in Bank Alfalah Polo





LAHORE – As many as four more matches were decided in the Bank Alfalah National Polo Championship for Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup here at Lahore Polo Club on Thursday.
In the first match of the day, Nestle outpaced Al Khan/Ciro’s by 8-3. Saqib Khan Khakwani was top scorer for Nestle who smashed three goals while Raja Samiullah and Hamza Mawaz Khan added two goals each and Shah Qubilai Alam hit one in Nestle’s triumph. Manuel Crespo was the only player for Al Khan/Ciro’s who managed three goals for the losers.
In the second match, Colony Sugar beat Master Paints by 8-7. Raul Laplacette played superb polo and hammered four goals in Colony Sugar’s victory while other goals were converted by Naveed M Sheikh (three) and Hussain Iftikhar (1).
Gaston Moore also played brilliantly and managed four goals for Master Paints but could help his team to face defeat. Ignacio Del Tour added two goals and Col Mashud Akbar hit one for the losers.
In the third match of the day, Pakistan Army/Nadra edged out Hataff/Diamond Paints by 9-4 with James Harper and Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana playing outstandingly for Pakistan Army while in the last match of the day, BBJ Pipes thrashed Guard Group/Newage by 12-5. Ahmed Ali Tiwana was the key player for BBJ Pipes who guided his team to victory with impressive five goals while Gerardo Mazzini also contributed well for BBJ Pipes with four goals. Maj Omer Minhas hit two goals and Ahmed Zubair added one in BBJ Pipes victory.
