Waqar, Abbas in limelight at Sigma Motors Golf

LAHORE Waqar Saigol with meticulous shot making and accurate approach shots emerged as the gross winner of the Sigma Motors medal event at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club on Sunday. Waqar had decent score of gross 74, two over par. The Sigma Motors Golf Medal event was contested at the par-72, Royal Palm Golf and Country Club Golf Course on stroke-play basis. The runner-up in the gross section was Shoaib Bokhari who played extremely well but was let down by a string of unwanted bogeys due to poor putting and had to be content with the runners-up slot his gross score being 78. On a wonderful day at the Royal Palm Golf Course, a total of 65 golfers aspiring to show their skills turned up to participate in this grand competition hosted by Sigma Motors but as it happens in an amateur event, a large number of them were unsuccessful, some due to bad hitting and others due to inaccurate approach shots. Perhaps the experience has done them good and they will seek the attention of their coaches and the driving range facility to tune up their shot making ability. Besides Waqar and Shoaib Bokhari, others who performed well in the net section of handicap category 0-14 were Abbas Ali Khan, winner with a score of net 69 and runner-up was Hussain Hamid with net score card being 70.
