Standard of SSU appreciated

KARACHI: Dr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Khan, Additional Inspector General of Police and Commandant Balochistan Constabulary appreciated the professional policing standards maintained by the Special Security Unit with particular reference to its management, training and counter terrorism operations.
This he observed during visit to various sections of the Special Security Unit Headquarters here other day.
Mr. Muhammad Muzaffar Iqbal, Security Officer SSU, briefed about the functioning, professional training and Counter Terrorism Operation activities.
The Addll: IGP and Commandant Balochistan Constabulary said that the standards maintained in the SSU is a role model and should be followed by the other police units in the country.
Mr. Muhammad Muzaffar Iqbal informed that the SSU has been issued ISO certificate from United Kingdom Accreditation System (UKAS) Britain, an international organization for maintaining international standard in the field of Counter Terrorism Operations, Provision of Foolproof Security to Important Personalities and Vital Installations.
Mr. Muhammad Muzaffar Iqbal further informed that Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T) team first ever in the country comprises highly trained and well equipped Commandos including lady Commandos has been setup in the Special Security Unit which is capable to effectively challenge and foil any attempt of terrorists.
The Additional Inspector General of Police also paid tributes and offered condolences to the martyred Commandos of Special Security Unit, who laid their lives in the line of duty.
He also witnessed the mock exercise conducted by the Commandos of S.W.A.T team to rush to the spot where hostile situation is created by the terrorists.
