Rawalpindi - Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan visited various places in Rawalpindi in shape of a big rally on Monday starting his election campaign formally in NA-56, where he will face PML-N candidate Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.
Imran Khan was traveling in a bulletproof vehicle with heavy contingent of police encircling the vehicle. Khan took a round of Commercial Market, College Chowk, Saidpur Road, Imambargah Road, Asghar Mall Chowk and later Liaquat Road, where he was joined by Awami Muslim League President and candidate for NA-55 Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed with a big rally.
During all the way, Imran Khan was given a tumultuous welcome by the jubilant workers including children, women and young girls while holding placards, banners, huge portraits of Khan and bats (electoral symbol of PTI).
The prominent leaders, who participated in the rally, were PTI PP-14 candidate Ch Asghar, Fiaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, former Nazim Raja Tariq Mehboob Kiyani, Raja Rashid Hafiz, Dr Shehzad and Ali Malik. The jubilant workers were dancing on drumbeats and showering rose petals on their beloved leader’s vehicle as police suggested Imran Khan not to appear from the vehicle owing to security reason.
Till filing of this report, PTI Chief reached Liaquat Bagh with tens of hundreds of his supporters embarking on vehicle and pedestrians as well.
Earlier, mismanagement was seen on the occasion of inauguration of party’s Public Secretariat by Imran Khan at Rehmanabad. The unruly and undisciplined PTI workers made hullabaloo, broke windowpanes of the public secretariat and forced their leader to evacuate the place without speaking even a single word with workers or media men. Some irate workers also misbehaved with media men.
Hundreds of PTI workers including females were present on the occasion.
 They were holding party flags and portraits of Khan; chanting slogans in favor of their beloved chief. The most echoed slogan, chanted by workers, was simple “Imran Khan is the next Prime Minister”.
As Imran entered the office, PTI workers started pushing one another in a bid to enter first in the election office where Imran Khan was present. The PTI workers barred the media men from entering the office for coverage and misbehaved with them. In the meanwhile, the windowpanes of Public Secretariat were smashed by the angry workers.
The workers also clashed with one another when the gate staff stopped dozens of activists from thronging inside the office. Khan left the office immediately after inaugurating it without even meeting the local leaders. Despite of that the PTI workers were happy to see their chief among them. Earlier, Imran Khan was accorded a rosy welcome by the workers upon his arrival in NA-56. No proper security measures have been made to protect the gathering.
