Musharraf’s papers for NA-139 under scanner

KOT RADHA KISHAN - Returning Officer Muhammad Saleem scrutinising nomination papers in the district has submitted objections over the forms submitted by former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf among other candidates.
Muhammad Javed Kasuri, an advocate of the Supreme Court, submitted six objections against Musharraf, a candidate for NA-139 Kasur-II. The objections included concealing of facts in the nomination papers.
The returning officer summoned Musharraf to clear the objections against him. A candidate for NA-140, Javed Hussain, submitted objections against former MNA Malik Rasheed Ahmad Khan of the PML-N. The petitioner said that there were corruption cases against Malik Rasheed. RO Khizar Hayat Gondal also summoned him on April 7.
Meanwhile, Nasir Ghauri submitted objections against Nasira Mayu, a Pakistan People’s Party candidate for NA-138. In the objections, he alleged that Nasira holds a UK passport in which she has declared herself Qadiani whereupon the RO summoned her on April 5.
Total 154 candidates belonging to different parties have filed nomination papers for five National Assembly constituencies and 285 for 10 Punjab Assembly constituencies in the district.
LOADSHEDDING FLAYED: Over 13-hour power loadshedding a day has paralysed the life in and around the city. People from different walks of life said that they were facing problems due to suspension of electricity. They added that they were also facing an acute shortage of water due to the loadshedding. They said the Wapda officials were considering the entire district as rural and treating the people as cattle. They said that the situation was deteriorating day by day due to closure of industrial units. They said that the prolonged outages had rendered thousands of wagers jobless. They threatened to take to the streets if unscheduled power shutdown was not ended immediately.
Condolence:  Former foreign minister and PTI’ candidate for NA-140 Khurshid Kasuri condoled the death of Prof Sadar Ali Dogger.
The deceased was father of SP (r) Sardar Yar Mohammad, Col (r) Sardar Nazir Ahmad and Sardar Liaqat Dogger. He offered fateha and prayed for the departed soul.
