PESHAWAR - The residents of Union Council Landi Arbab, PK-04, have appealed to the Peshawar High Court, Chief Justice, to prohibit KPK Minister for Sports and Tourism from his official work and attending inauguration ceremonies as he has been convicted in the court of law.
Talking to TheNation, Wajidullah Khan, resident of Landi Arbab alleged that provincial Sports Minister has not only deceived the Election Commission of Pakistan but also deceived the masses by awarding tenders to their blue-eyed people.
He said that instead of constructing new schools he has installed his nameplates on the schemes former PK-04 MPA Ibrahim Qasmi.
He informed that for the last five years the people of area were demanding upgradation of Government Girls High School Landi Arbab to Higher Secondary but due to the reckless attitude of provincial Health Minister this demand of the people was not fulfilled.
He said that though he has installed pipelines in most of the area for supply of clean drinking waters but there is no water in these pipelines.
The local people including Niaz Mohammad Khan, Mazhar Ali, Kiramatullah, Shakil Khan, Farhan Khan, Shiekh Javed Khan and others strongly criticised the performance of Syed Aqil Shah.
They said that he has cheated the masses as he cheated the election commission of Pakistan through his bogus degree.
They added that he has wasted public funds for his political motives not for welfare of the masses saying that low quality material has also been used in most of his developmental schemes.
There is no proper drainage system on famous Badshahi rout, which has been turned into a swimming pool. The canal which they have constructed is above the road while the road is situated below the water channel which results water logging on this main route of UC Landi Arbab.
They further said that the Provincial Minister has ignored the health and education sector in his constituency while the population of the area is rapidly increasing. They said that the lone dispensary of the union council is laying in dilapidated condition.
They alleged that he has awarded contracts of these schemes to their blue-eye people who are busy in looting the national wealth at both hands. They demanded of the Chief Justice Peshawar high court to stop him from working as he has been convicted in the fake degree case.
The convicted Minister for sports and tourism has won his seat from KP-04 where tough competition was held between former MPA Ibrahim Qasmi and Syed Aqil Shah while the former MPA has alleged that the Aqil Shah has ragged the poll on KP-04 in February, 2008 general election.
It is worth mentioning here that the Peshawar District and Sessions Judge on November 01 has indicted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Sports, Syed Aqil Shah in his fake degree case.
The judge formally framed charges against him for filing a phony college degree with the KP Election Commission when he competed in the 2008 general elections from the PF-4 district of Peshawar.
The regional election commissioner argued that the Pakistani Higher Education Commission found Shah’s supposed University of Punjab degree to be bogus, it is said that after conviction shah would face up to three years’ imprisonment.
