Shahzeb murder case: SC orders Sharukh arrest within 72 hours

The Supreme Court (SC), ordering Sindh police to arrest by January 10 Sharukh Jatoi, the main accused who shot 20-year Shazeb Khan to death, said an attempt has been made to cover up the entire matter by lodging a new FIR in Shahzeb murder case.
Heading a three member bench of the apex court hearing the suo moto case pertaining to the murder of 20 year old Shahzeb Khan, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said the main accused fled the country after occurrence of that important incident, a private television channel reproted.
Sindh's Inspector General of Police (IGP), Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari also appeared before the court in uniform. The bench asked him to produce the main accused in Shahzeb murder case by Tuesday (tomorrow); however, he sought 15-day time, saying tomorrow's deadline is hard to meet. On this, the court allowed him 72-hour limit to arrest Sharukh Jatoi and adjourned the hearing till January 10.
Addressing Deputy Inspector General south Shahid Hayat, the CJ Chaudhry remarked, “Had you or Sindh IG of Police suspended yourself, then it would have been something to be reckoned with. Only a sub-inspector was suspended.”
Police, he asserted, do not garner details and do not pay attention if something is brought to light through media, adding police fear influential people; though it is Allah Who decrees respect and disgrace and is the only One worthy to be feared.
Advocate General Sindh Abdul Fatah Malik Monday submitted the report regarding escape of Sharukh Jatoi from the country. According to the report, Jatoi traveled to Dubai on fake boarding card and Consul General Dubai confirmed the absconder’s landing at Dubai Airport.
Commenting on this, the CJ remarked, “The prospects regarding the success of police action are extremely thin and we are saying the same in the light of our experience.”
The CJ further said, “You produced two different reports during Saturday and Sunday and the two reports said Sharukh is in Pakistan. And, you could not find out and he slid out of Pakistan.”
Sindh AG said the attempts for Sharukh arrest are afoot, it is hoped that he would soon be arrested.
