Explosive detection scanners failed us: Nisar Ali Khan

Islamabad- Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan today vowed to bring culprits of Islamabad fruit market blast to justice. He said that two scanners imported by the previous government turned out to be a complete failure.

Talking to journalists at the blast site, Chaudhry Nisar said that previous government had sought to import four scanners, out of which only two were brought, and those too failed to detect explosives. The minister said most of the people killed in today’s blast were poor and were buying fruits from their daily earning.

He said poor people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Waziristan and other parts of the country became victim of the fruit market blast. The minister said the government will follow the criminals. He added this cowardly act of terrorism is against humanity. Nisar told that the bomb was planted in a fruit crate. Twenty one innocent people have lost their lives in today’s sad incident. He said manual search of each vehicle is impossible as 200 to 300 vehicles unload fruits and vegetables every day.
