SA pays rich tributes to Allama Iqbal

KARACHI The Sindh Assembly on Monday paid rich tributes to National Poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal who planted the seeds of Pakistan as a separate country in the subcontinent. Lawmakers from ruling PPP, MQM as well as combined opposition - PML-F, PML-Q and NPP - while delivering speeches paid rich tribute and saluted to the services rendered by National Poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal for nation. The Provincial Assembly also passed a resolution unanimously, which was moved by Minister for Tourism Department Shazia Marri. The resolution reads: This Assembly pays tribute to National Poet Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal, recognises his inimitable services for the Muslims of the subcontinent and pays homage to his far-sight and vision in distinguishing vision between the two nations in the subcontinent and planting the seeds for the creation of a separate, independent and sovereign state. Speaking in support of her resolution, Shazia Marri said that feeling the cultural, social and political difference in the subcontinent, Allama Iqbal started struggle for separate independent for Muslims. He dreamt for separate state for Muslims, which Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah transformed into reality as Pakistan, she said. She said that today (Tuesday) is Iqbal Day, so it is best way to pass a resolution in the Sindh Assembly to pay tribute to our national hero. Provincial Minister emphasized that we should also teach and memorize to our children about our national heroes. Deputy Parliamentary leader of MQM and Provincial Minister for Youth Affairs Faisal Sabzwari said that Allama Iqbal through his poetry, gave message of equality and equal rights of all citizens, but presently unfortunately no such change was visible in the lives of the poor peoples of this country, who still are deprived of their rights. He appealed the political parties to come and struggle to fulfil the vision of Allama Iqbal into reality. Referring to the rising prices of food items especially sugar, MQM Minister said that though it was a common resolve of coalition partners to struggle for empowerment of the people of Pakistan, so they should take steps to control the sugar prices, which has been hiked at above Rs 125 per kg in the country. He hoped that the Federal Government will take concrete steps to curb the inflation. Haji Anwar Mahar of PPP said Allama Muhammad Iqbal was also a politician, who played active role with Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali in Muslim League. Minister for Culture Department Sassui Palijo stressed the need for remembering national heroes like Allama Iqbal and advised the political parties to follow the vision of the National Poet who advocated for the empowerment of common man. Senior Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq said that Allama Iqbal was a visionary and revolutionary poet, so we all should take efforts to implement his thoughts into reality. Pir Mazhar pointed out that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto through his slogan of 'Roti, Kapra and Makan had implemented the thoughts of Allama Iqbal into reality. Shaheed Bhutto also distributed state land among the farmers of the country, while Shaheed Benazir Bhutto also worked for the empowerment of citizens of Pakistan, he said, adding, President Asif Ali Zardari taking one step ahead to give priority to allot state land among the women, who are the most vulnerable section of society. After speeches delivered by lawmakers, the House adopted the resolution with unanimous vote.
