Jesus Christ A Unique King!

Rev. Shahid P. Mehraj
Jesus Christ is the Lord of Lords and Kings of King. We praise God that once again we have entered in the season of Advent. This season and Christmas remind us about the uniqueness of our Lord Jesus Christ. All faithful believe that Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
His birth is unique. When angel Gabriel appeared to Mary & gave her the good news of the birth of Jesus, Mary asked angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” And the angel Gabriel answered: “The Holy Spirit will come on you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.” (Luke 1:35). At Jesus’s birth, the angel also gave good news to the shepherds that the saviour of the world has been born; and then kings from different parts of the world were led by the star to come and adore this everlasting King.
As a king he is also unique. He does not rule over one territory but rules all over the universe. Jesus is the King of this whole universe. He is a King who does not kill the people of this world but brings them in his kingdom with love so that they can have everlasting life.
As we celebrate the birth of this unique King who was born in a manger, let us humble ourselves in his kingdom. As we accept and confess that Jesus  is Lord of Lords and King of Kings, we must renew the promises of our baptism and confession which we made at the time of our confirmation because he is the only one who can change the old nature of mankind i.e. sin and death.
We the church in India and Pakistan are the heir of confession which was made by our apostle Saint Thomas when he recognized the Jesus and his divinity, he confessed: “My Lord, My God” (John 20:28). He is redeemer because he shed his blood. And he is the one who can restore the wounding and dying world. Let’s humble ourselves and invite this everlasting King to rule our lives.
It’s a time to reflect, to count our blessings and to give thanks for all the good things we enjoy. We must not forget peace is the prize for which we are longing. Jesus Christ gives us the gift of peace and love.
Wishing you a Blessed Christmas & Happy New Year.
