Work on 4 new women degree colleges begins

Construction of four degree colleges for women has began which are likely to be made functional from academic session for  2015-16.
Talking to this agency on Thursday, Director Colleges Prof Shamim Arif Qureshi said that initially, the construction had started with Rs5 million and hoped that it would be completed within one year.
He added that two other degree colleges for women were in the pipeline which would be built at Nawabpur and Budla Sanat on the state land. “We have planned another two colleges for women. These will be built over a piece of 27 kanal of state land at Nawabpur and 26 kanal at Budla Sanat. We have made feasibility of latter as well.
The Punjab government had given go ahead to start construction of four new degree colleges for Women before July this year, the director colleges informed.
The Punjab government has sanctioned a total of 97 Kanal state land for construction of four new Degree Colleges for Women in Multan, Khanewal and Vehari districts.
The four colleges for Women would be built at Qadirpur Raan, Basit Malook, Kacha Koh (Khanewal), and Karampur( Vehari). 16 Kanal each for Degree College for Women, Qadirpur Raan, and Kacha Koh, 14 kanal for Basit Malook and 51 kanal for karampur has been sanctioned.
It is worth mentioning here that a meeting of Divisional Departmental Sub Committee (DDSC), held on April 21 in Lahore had approved the land.
The land has been sanctioned under chief minister special district package and the number of colleges for women in Multan district would rise to 15 with construction of these colleges.
