PIMS doctor to examine jailed Nihal Hashmi

Islamabad - Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences will send a cardiac specialist for the medical examination of Pakistan Muslim League member Nihal Hashmi sentenced by Supreme Court in a contempt case, an official said on Friday.

Details said that Nihal Hashmi currently at Adiala Jail had requested for medical check-up and the PIMS administration has been asked to send a cardiac specialist for his check-up in jail.

Nihal Hashmi was sentenced to one month imprisonment by SC in a contempt of court case. A day later he complained of his poor health condition there.

Official said that the jail administrator formally requested from PIMS administrator to send a cardiac specialist. On that, the hospital administration has decided to send Dr. Akhtar Ali Bandesha for the medical check-up of the PML-N member.

Official also said that earlier it was mulled over to take Nihal Hashmi to the hospital for his medical check-up but the idea was dropped later.

PIMS spokesperson Dr. Waseem Khawaja confirmed the development and said that Nihal Hashmi who is in Adial jail now is a cardiac patient.
