Legal community observes strike today

Islamabad - The lawyers of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are going to observe strike and boycott courts today (Wednesday) against harassment and registration of allegedly a fake case against the lawyers of Bahria Town.
The call for strike has been given by President Islamabad Bar Association Zahid Mehmood Raja and General Secretary Rawalpindi Bar Association Sajid Awan.
Talking to media persons, President Islamabad Bar Association Zahid Mehmood Raja strongly condemned registration of allegedly a fake case against the lawyers of Bahria Town. He said the legal community would continue its protest. A delegation of lawyers will meet high-ups of police to record their protest in this regard, he said. He added if police did not mend its way then the lawyers would devise future line of action in consultation with presidents of other bar associations. He warned to take the protest at the national level if their reservations are not addressed.
General Secretary Rawalpindi Bar Association Sajid Awan said that lawyers were being threatened and implicated in fake cases. He said that lawyers were being stopped from pursuing cases of Bahria Town. He strongly condemned such things.
