Shutdown, demos in IOK today on Afzal Guru’s anniversary

In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed on Friday (February 9) to mark the fifth martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru, reported Radio Pakistan.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

The Hurriyet leadership has also called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers to press the demand for the return of the mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt, from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail to occupied Kashmir.

The puppet authorities have put Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik under house arrest or in detention to prevent them from leading anti-India demonstrations.
