Stage set for PTI sit-in

MULTAN - The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is all set to launch its 'Hakomat Hatawo Mulk Bachawo drive from Saturday as PTI Chief Imran Khan will kick off the movement after his address to a public gathering here at District Sports Ground. The preparations for the public meetings are done and the delegations of PTI workers have started arriving at the venue. A stage with about 10 thousand chairs is arranged while a beautiful big stage is set with the help of four containers. Senior police officers kept visiting the pandal throughout the day as at least three thousand cops were deployed to secure the place. In order to hold a successful show, the PTI has invited its likely election partners Nawabzada Mansoor and Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer for the public meeting. The central vice president of PTI and senior politician Mian Sajid Pervez told journalists that the heads of only two parties were invited to the public meeting. They include Nawabzada Mansoor of Pakistan Democratic Party and Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith. No other leader is invited, he added. He was of the opinion that other parties would have been invited, had it been a sit in. It is purely a public meeting and only PTI workers and supporters will join it. Meanwhile, the party sources said that Imran Khan had left Lahore for Multan by road at 10:00 am and he would reach Multan with a large procession. Sources said that Mr. Khan would be welcomed by workers delegation at different spots on way to Multan, which would join him for the public meeting. He will make a stopover in Sahiwal and then leave for Multan, sources added. Imran Khan will attend a dinner organized in his honour by party leader Malik Imran Khokhar and later on spend night at the residence of Javed Haider Gardezi. On the other hand, the delegations of workers kept pouring in throughout the day from all adjoining areas of Multan including Mailsi, Kabirwala, Muzaffargarh, Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Vehari to listen to the address of Imran Khan. The PTI Kabirwala coordinator Shahbaz Khan Siyal said that thousands of workers would participate in Hakoomat Hatawo Mulk Bachawo drive. Similarly, a big delegation of PTI workers arrived here under the leadership of former MNA Mian Noor Khan Bhabha, former city nazim Mailsi Tauseef Khan Yousufzai and Ch. Akmal. Talking to the journalists, Mian Noor Khan Bhabha said that the popularity graph of PTI rose considerably in entire country. He said that the rulers completely failed to produce while Imran Khan filled the leadership vacuum. He said that it was only Imran Khan who could steer the country out of crisis. Political observers believe that many leading political personalities may join PTI on this occasion. Sources disclosed that former MNA from Multan Sheikh Tahir Rasheed called on Imran Khan two days back and discussed different national and local political issues. When contacted, Sheikh Tahir Rasheed told journalists that he had not made any final decision on joining PTI so far. Ill take friends from my constituency into confidence first and then make any decision about my political future, he added. Security and traffic arrangements On the other hand, the district administration has made special security and other arrangements to avert any untoward situation on this occasion. Heavy police contingents are deployed in and around the venue. Similarly, a comprehensive traffic plan is issued by the traffic police to keep wheels rolling. According to details, a special parking area is allocated for the participants of public meeting on Tareen Road. The vehicles entering Multan for attending public meeting will have to follow a certain route as they would reach at Tareen Road via Chowk Kumharanwala, Chungi No-9, Tehsil Chowk, Dak Khana Chowk, Raza Abad, MDA Chowk and Tareen Road. Similarly, areas like Kachehry Chowk, Nawan Shehr Chowk and MDA Chowk would be closed to traffic after the start of sit in and the traffic will be diverted to alternate routes.
