Sindh High Court grants pre-arrest bail to ex-CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah

KARACHI - The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday granted a bail pre-arrest to former chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah in a National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) reference pertaining to the abuse of power and land allotment case. Fearing possible arrest by corruption watchdog, the former chief minister approached the SHC seeking bail before arrest. The court approved his bail plea against the surety bonds of Rs300,000 until February 23. The court issued notices to the director general (DG) National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and others and directed former CM to cooperate with the NAB in the inquiry. According to NAB prosecutor, Shah is accused of abusing his powers being CM Sindh and had illegally allotted 43 acres of land in Brohi Goth, Nazimabad. The former chief minister rejected the NAB claims declaring it a malicious action. He pleaded with the court that he is worried about possible arrest by NAB so his pre-arrest bail may be granted and NAB should be stopped from arresting him.
