Four including 3 timbers smugglers killed in police firing in Mansehra

Three timbers smugglers were killed in police firing after they tried to flee when police approached them here in Mansehra late Tuesday night. A relative of the deceased was later killed in police firing on protest demonstration to disperse them. According to police, it signaled to stop a suspected vehicle in Phulrra locality but the timber smugglers started firing at police. In retaliatory fire from police all the three timber smugglers were killed on the spot. The bodies were shifted to DHQ Hospital Mansehra for postmortem. The heirs of the deceased with dead bodies held protest demonstration in front of office of Ijaz Khan, DPO Mansehra. They blamed that the police gunned down their relatives as they refused to give bribe to them. The enraged protestors set ablaze a police mobile and cordoned off the city police stations due to which entire staff remained stranded. To disperse the protestors, police opened fire during which a citizen Fazal ur Rehman was killed. JUI-F MNA Laiq Muhammad Khan and other political figures of the area visited the scene and tried for reconciliation but in van. Tension gripped the entire city and officials and academic activities remained suspended on Wednesday. The families and relatives of victims vowed to continue their protest till the culprits were brought to justice.
